New Zealand has decided to ban the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products for the youngsters in the country. Under this, people aged 14 and under in 2027, will not be allowed to buy cigarettes. The proposal will also limit the number of retailers who can sell tobacco and cut nicotine in products. 

The new proposal will make New Zealand’s tobacco industry one of the most restricted in the world. New Zealand is aiming to lower the percentage of population smoking to less than 5% by 2025. This move of the company is appreciated by the health authorities while retailers and tobacco companies are concerned about their business.

The government of New Zealand has not detailed how it would be applied in the country and whether the tourists and visitors would come under it or not. It is also estimated that this ban could lead to the black market for cigarettes and other tobacco products.
