One of the most popular OTT platforms, Netflix

has accelerated its plans to introduce ads right into its TV shows and movie amid stunted growth and reducing the global user base. According to The New York Times, the leading streaming company has changed its plans to launch advertisements into its content by the end of this year.

The report issued on Tuesday, stated, "Netflix has told employees that ads may come by the end of 2022.” Earlier, Executives of the company were considering to launch an ad-supported, lower-priced subscription tier in the "next year or two" but have now shifted the plans to an earlier launch date.

According to the report, a recent note to employees stated that OTT giant executives are currently planning to launch the ad tier in the last three months of 2022. Other than this, the streaming platform will also announce new methods to crack down on password sharing by the end of the year. Recently, the share of Netflix fell by 20 percent after it clocked a loss of 2 lakh paid subscribers in the first quarter of 2022. To make matter worse, Netflix now estimated a global paid subscriber loss of 20 lakh for the second quarter (Q2) this year.
