Mykhailo Fedorov asks Xbox and PlayStation to block Russian gamers

News Synopsis

Ukraine's vice prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, has sent an open letter calling on Xbox and PlayStation to block Russian and Belarusian gamers in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

The letter posted to Fedorov's Twitter account was addressed to "all game developers," especially for the PlayStation and Xbox. Russia launched a military attack on Ukraine last Thursday. Belarus has been a longtime ally of Russia.

Fedorov wrote in the letter, “ We are sure that these actions will motivate the citizens of Russia to proactively stop the disgraceful military aggression. Both PlayStation and Xbox have not made any announcement regarding this yet. 

Earlier the vice prime minister of Ukraine has asked the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook to cut the services of the company in Russia. Many media companies and social media platforms have already restricted the Russian state media from accessing their platform. Snapchat has also restricted the ad revenue in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

Mykhailo Fedorov also announced that Ukraine is accepting Dogecoin as donations and asked the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk and other Dogecoin owners to support the country’s defense against the invasion.
