News Synopsis

MX Player, the video streaming platform owned by Times Internet, has introduced MX Gold, a new premium ad-free service with a pay later option. Users can now view ad-free series and movies on the site anytime they want and pay for them afterward, unlike other OTT providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ Hotstar. MX Gold, which costs $299 a year, is the streaming service's first 'Watch-Now-Pay-Later' offering.

“We are breaking the mold of how entertainment has been consumed to date,” said Abhishek Joshi, business head of MX Player. MX Player will launch its 'Watch-Now-Pay-Later' service in collaboration with Paytm PostPaid, but other partners will be added in the future.

Entertainment has always been a 'pay first experience later' phenomenon, and we intend to change that. If you don't have money to spare at this juncture or do not have your payment details handy, this initiative will let you navigate your way out of trouble, and you can pay when it suits you,” said Joshi.

According to the corporation, the arrangement allows customers more time to pay and makes it much easier for them to pick what to buy. It also promises that the feature will reduce customers' hesitation when picking what to watch.
