News Synopsis

Mukesh Ambani has set his sights on the Indian government's efforts to indigenize the defence industry. After drones, Ambani Senior intends to enter the vital space of aircraft design through SankhyaSutra Labs, a Bengaluru-based company. At the AeroCon 2022 — an aerospace conference organized by the Society of Automobile Engineering — the Reliance subsidiary, Jio Platforms, showed a Made in India software that can be used to design aeroplanes.

The company stated that it plans to launch a significant product in October of this year, but did not disclose what it will be about. SankhyaSutra appears to be focused on making it easier and less expensive to simulate aircraft designs. Simulation is essential in every aircraft design, particularly in defence.

“Accurate and reliable simulations can potentially reduce the need for expensive and time-consuming experiments, such as wind tunnel experiments, used for the design of aircraft. This opens up several possibilities by making aircraft design faster and cheaper, as well as allowing exploration of unconventional and radically new design alternatives,” said Dr. Vinay Kariwala, vice president of business development and SankhyaSutra Labs.
