The wealth gap between Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani is getting bigger by the day. Adani, who temporarily rose to the position of the second-richest individual in September of last year, has since been removed from the top 20 billionaires list. On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani has mostly managed to hold onto his nearly $80 billion fortune.

Adani, who for a significant portion of last year was the third-richest individual has now dropped to position 21 on the Bloomberg Billionaires List and 22 on the Forbes Rich List. Bloomberg calculates Adani's net worth to be $61.3 billion while Forbes calculates it to be $57.6 billion.

Adani's net worth reached $155.7 billion, according to Forbes, exceeding that of Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault. His wealth was valued at $152 billion when he dropped to the third position. He was valued at $149 billion by Bloomberg.

Following his ranking as the second-richest person, Mukesh Ambani was ranked eighth by Bloomberg with a net worth of $91 billion and eighth by Forbes with a net worth of $92 billion.

Fast to the present, when Mukesh Ambani has regained the top rank as Asia's richest man.

According to Bloomberg, he is worth $80.3 billion compared to Gautam Adani's $61.3 billion. Mukesh Ambani's fortune is assessed by Forbes to be $82.5 billion, while Gautam Adani's wealth is assessed to be $57.6 billion.

Adani's fortune declined by nearly $100 billion from its peak as a result of the market failure of his firms. Mukesh Ambani has not seen an erosion this great. He is also no longer in the top 10 billionaires according to Bloomberg and Forbes.

After being charged with stock manipulation and accounting fraud in a damning study by short-seller Hindenburg Research, Gautam Adani's Adani Group is experiencing an unprecedented crisis. The conglomerate's stock fell in the wake of the allegations, Credit Suisse and Citigroup stopped accepting Adani Group securities, Dow Jones blacklisted Adani Enterprises from popular sustainability indices and the RBI requested information from domestic banks about their exposure to Adani Group Companies.
