News Synopsis

MSCI Inc. today announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to develop a cloud-native investment data acquisition and development platform, with the goal of delivering data, insights, and solutions to support better and faster investment decision-making. This partnership is part of MSCI Inc.'s commitment to enhancing the client experience through technology and relentless innovation.

The investment data platform, which was built natively on Google Cloud, will assist MSCI in developing solutions aimed at better assisting its clients, which include asset managers, asset owners, banks,  corporates, insurers, and wealth managers.

The goal of MSCI's use of Google Cloud's artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies—as well as advanced analytics tools like BigQuery, VertexAI, and Document AI—is to assist MSCI in more quickly and at a larger scale than ever before acquiring, ingesting, and processing structured and unstructured data. Consistent data enables MSCI to innovate its solution portfolio more effectively and quickly uncover insights.

In order to help MSCI quantify physical and transition climate risk factors across securities, geographies, and markets, Google Cloud will also offer geospatial analytics tools like Earth Engine and BigQuery Geospatial. By incorporating geographic data into MSCI products and solutions, investors will be able to more effectively and correctly model climate risks by location, resulting in more accurate analysis, forecasting, and decision-making.

"The investment industry is experiencing an exponential growth in data. In today's fast-moving world, investors require the ability to analyze new and alternative sources of data to remain competitive and informed, assess evolving investment challenges and opportunities, separate the noise, and improve operational efficiencies," Henry Fernandez, MSCI's chairman and CEO, made this statement.

"This alliance will bolster MSCI's world-class solutions, helping our clients quickly turn data into relevant and actionable insights across asset classes and issues, such as climate risk. Google Cloud shares MSCI's quest to advance data measurement and standardization, and we look forward to working with them as we continue to help solve investors' critical challenges," he continued.
