Mithali Raj the captain of India's women's ODI and Test team, has announced her retirement from international cricket. Mithali scored a record 7805 runs in 232 ODI matches in her international career. She also represented India in 12 Tests and 89 T20 Internationals. The 39-year-old player has already retired from the T20 format and was expected to retire after India's campaign in the One Day World Cup in March ended.

She issued a statement and informed the fans about her decision. Mithali wrote that thank you for your love and support over the years. I would like your blessings and support for my second innings. Mithali further wrote, “Like every journey, my cricket career too had to come to an end at a juncture. Today is the day when I am retiring from all forms of international cricket. Mithali said that this journey of mine as a player may have ended but the other one is waiting. I would like to keep myself engaged in this game. I stand ready to contribute towards the betterment and promotion of women's cricket in India and the world."

Mithali Raj made her debut for Indian Team on 26 June 1999. She was playing for the Indian team for the last 23 years. The 39-year-old Mithali has scored more than 10,000 runs for Team India. She played the first World Cup for India in the year 2000. After this, in 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2022. Mithali left behind former New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hawkley and England's Charlotte Edwards in terms of playing the most World Cups. After Mithali Jhulan Goswami is the player to play the most World Cup for India. She has also participated in five World Cups for India. Apart from Mithali Raj, Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer for India to have played six World Cups. Sachin played six World Cups for India from 1992 to 2011 and won his last World Cup.
