News Synopsis

James Phillips is leaving Microsoft after ten years at the company. He joined Microsoft in 2012 as a corporate vice president and strategic advisor to Satya Nadella, who has become CEO of the company, reports Windows Central. 

James Phillips became the president of Microsoft’s Digital Transformation Group in 2020. Microsoft’s Digital Transformation Group oversees the company’s business applications and services.

It includes Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure AI Platform, Azure Data Platform, Azure IoT Platform, and the Microsoft Cloud. It is a large group with more than 15,000 people from all around the world.

The news was first confirmed through an email from Microsoft Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie. James Phillips has also confirmed his departure from Microsoft on LinkedIn.

It is yet not specified where he was headed, instead, it is stated that James Phillips would leave for an unnamed external opportunity. The report also said that James Phillips was on an extended sabbatical before his departure.
