News Synopsis

Automaker MG Motor India announced that it partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) to strengthen its EV charging infrastructure nationwide.

The company said in a statement that this partnership with BPCL will boost EV adoption by expanding travel opportunities between cities as the two companies install EV chargers on highways and within cities.

With BPCL's broad customer reach and operations, and MG's electric vehicle advances, the two companies have combined their expertise to strategically identify charging sites, gather consumer insights, and develop loyalty programs and technology to manage charging systems

Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL, commented on this initiative, stating that the country is entering an era of massive electrical mobility now and in the future for sustainable consumption.

BPCL is installing fast-charging corridors throughout the country's major highways connecting major cities and economic hubs and plans to build a network of 7,000 convenient fast-charging stations nationwide over the next 2-3 years.

He added that these fast-charging stations will be equipped with a variety of customer amenities such as hygienic washrooms, light meals, and micro ATMs.
