Meta took down Inappropriate Content on Facebook and Instagram

News Synopsis

Meta (formerly Facebook) removed more than 11.6 million content under Facebook's 13 policies in January, and removed more than 3.2 million content under Instagram's 12 policies, the company said  Tuesday. As of January, Meta received 911 reports through India's grievance mechanism and responded to 100% of those reports. Meta has said that the company measures the number of pieces of content including posts, photos, videos, and comments and take appropriate for going against standards. It has edited 1.4 million content related to adult nudity and sexual activity, 233,600  content related to bullying and harassment, and 1.8 million violent and raw content. In December, in accordance with the new 2021 IT rules, Meta removed more than 19.3 million malicious content in 13 categories on Facebook and more than 2.4 million such content in 12 categories on Instagram. Meta also received 534 reports on Facebook through the Indian mechanism as of December 2019, all of these, from fake profiles to harassing / abusive content and hacked accounts.
