Meesho Records 5.35 Million Orders in One-Day Sale Event

News Synopsis

SoftBank and Meta-backed e-commerce startup Meesho recorded a five-fold increase over the previous year with 5.35 million orders at its one-day sales event. Meesho recorded 1 million orders during the "Maha Indian Savings Sale" which the e-commerce platform hosted on June 6, last year.

About 75% of the sellers who participated were from the Tier 2 region and beyond, including the country's lowlands, such as Bathinda, Haldwani, Solapur, and Tirunelveli among others.

Vendors in attendance confirmed that orders increased by approximately 217% during the sales event compared to business-as-usual (BAU). According to the statement, more than 26,000 new sellers participated in the sales event. From January to March 2022, Meesho's app downloads nearly increased year on year to over 102 million. 

According to Meesho, nearly 78% of demand came from markets such as Bhilai, Guntur, Hubli, Kollam, Meerut, and Port Blair. According to the statement released by the company, the top categories with the highest sales growth were apparel, children's clothing, appliances, and home decor.

Meesho said in a statement, “From 1 million orders on June 6, 2021, to 5.35 million orders on June 5, 2022, the 3e-commerce platform has seen stellar growth in spite of prevailing macroeconomic conditions. Nearly 1 lakh sellers participated in the recent sales.”
