News Synopsis

India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector has grown rapidly in recent years, with domestic and international automakers entering the market with budget-friendly and premium offerings. From micro electric cars to feature-loaded electric MPVs and luxury EVs, India is expected to see a significant number of EV sales by 2025. Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car manufacturer, is finally entering the EV segment with its first electric vehicle, eVitara, scheduled for launch on December 2, 2025.

Maruti Suzuki eVitara Launch Date and Strategic Plans

After years of anticipation, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara is set to debut in India on December 2, 2025. Maruti Suzuki, already popular for its petrol, CNG, and hybrid vehicles, aims to attract EV buyers with eVitara. The electric SUV is part of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to achieve 50% market share in the passenger EV segment by 2030. Under this plan, the company intends to launch eight new cars and invest ₹70,000 crore in EV development.

eVitara Design Highlights

The eVitara is a ground-up battery electric vehicle (BEV) with a mid-sized SUV profile, designed to appeal to a wide audience. The front features LED headlamps with 3-point matrix DRLs, while the side profile is enhanced with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. At the rear, LED tail lamps complement the sleek and natural design of the exterior.

Interior Design and Features

The cabin of the eVitara sets a new benchmark in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio. It features a spacious dual-tone interior with a twin-deck floating center console, a dual-screen digital cockpit, a fixed glass sunroof, and multi-color ambient lighting, offering a premium and modern driving experience.

Battery and Range

Based on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT-e platform, the eVitara will offer a 61 kWh battery pack in India. The larger battery variant provides an estimated range of 500 km on a full charge. Unlike global versions, the Indian model will not have an AWD dual-motor setup, instead offering a single eAXLE front-wheel-drive configuration.

Safety Features

Safety is a key focus for the eVitara. The EV will come with Level 2 ADAS safety suite, ABS, EBD, ESC, and several other safety features. Additionally, it will offer seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, marking a first for the Maruti Suzuki brand.

Color Options

The Maruti Suzuki eVitara will be available in 10 colors, including Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Blueish Black, Opulent Red, and Land Breeze Green. There will also be four dual-tone options, such as Blueish Black roof variants, to add extra contrast and style.

Conclusion

With the launch of the eVitara, Maruti Suzuki is entering the EV market with a feature-rich, safe, and stylish electric SUV. The vehicle’s competitive range, premium cabin, and advanced safety features are expected to make it a strong contender in India’s rapidly growing electric vehicle segment.
