Maruti Suzuki production reports a marginal increase in February

News Synopsis

Maruti Suzuki India said on Wednesday that its production increased slightly last month. In the regulatory filing, the company reported total production of 1,69,692 units in February, compared to 1,68,180 units in the same month last year.

The company further said that the shortage of electronic components has a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month. The total passenger vehicle production of Maruti Suzuki India stood at 1,65,672 units last month, compared to 1,65,783 units at the same time in 2021.

It reported a fall in the production of its Eeco at 9,189 units last month, and the production of the light commercial vehicle Super Carry increased to 4,020 units last month.

Last month's production of mini-vehicles with Alto and S-Presso models increased to 24,285 units in February. However, MSI said production of compact cars, including the WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire,  increased to 95,968 units during last month. Production of  Gypsy, Ertiga, SCross, Vitara Brezza and XL6 commercial vehicles increased to 33,191 units from 32,501 units in the corresponding month of 2021.
