News Synopsis

Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara, will launch in India on September 3, 2025. The company had first unveiled this EV at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo in January 2025. With this move, Maruti Suzuki is set to enter the electric vehicle market and compete with models like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, MG Windsor, and Mahindra BE 6.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The e-Vitara offers a striking road presence with balanced proportions and a modern SUV stance. It measures:

  • Length: 4,275mm

  • Height: 1,640mm

  • Wheelbase: 2,700mm

These dimensions suggest a spacious interior and strong SUV credentials, ideal for urban and highway use alike.

Advanced Powertrain and Battery Options

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is equipped with a 3-in-1 electric powertrain, which integrates the motor, inverter, and transmission into a single compact unit. This improves performance and space efficiency.

Two battery variants will be offered:

  • 49kWh Battery: Paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 144hp and 189Nm of torque.

  • 61kWh Battery: Powers a front motor generating 174hp, maintaining the same torque of 189Nm.

A dual-motor AWD version will be available with the larger 61kWh battery. It adds a 65hp rear motor, increasing the total output to 184hp and 300Nm of torque. While official range figures haven’t been announced, the 61kWh variant is expected to deliver over 500km on a single charge.

Charging Infrastructure and Customer Support

To make EV ownership convenient, Maruti Suzuki will:

  • Offer smart home chargers with installation assistance.

  • Deploy fast-charging stations across India’s top 100 cities within 2–3 years.

  • Ensure a charger every 5–10km along key urban and intercity routes.

  • Establish 1,500 EV-ready service centres in over 1,000 cities to provide timely maintenance and support.

Premium Interior with Advanced Features

The e-Vitara’s cabin blends futuristic design and practicality:

  • Twin-deck floating centre console

  • Fixed-glass sunroof

  • Multi-colour ambient lighting
