News Synopsis

More than 40 international leaders have pledged to collaborate to accelerate the adoption of sustainable technology by enacting global standards and laws. The announcement will be made on Tuesday during the COP26 climate meeting in Glasgow. Agriculture and power will be among the first five high-carbon industries to be targeted. Its goal is to stimulate private investment in low-carbon technology across the world. Steel, road transportation, agriculture, hydrogen, and energy would be the first five industries covered by the initiative.

The idea was announced by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was joined by leaders from the United States, India, the European Union, and China. "By making clean technology the most inexpensive, accessible, and appealing solution, the default go-to in what are now the most polluting industries, we can slash emissions all around the world," UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated. Beginning in 2022, leaders have pledged to discuss progress in each area once a year. Annual reports, coordinated by the International Energy Agency, a think tank for wealthier countries, will assist this endeavor.
