News Synopsis

India's Krrish Pal and Ravi Saini won a contrasting victory to advance to the semi-finals of the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan on Sunday.

Krrish was up against Robert Jamero of the Philippines in the quarterfinal. In the last two rounds, he completely dominated his opponent with his relentless and precise punches and won the bout 4-1.

Ravi displayed splendid braveness and tactical prowess towards Aphichit Chaemdi of Thailand in approximately that become very difficult and competitive from the beginning.

Both the boxers refused to back down but the Indian boxer landed grabbed more points to secure the result in his favour and win the match by 3-2. Later, four more junior Indian men boxers Lovepreet Singh, Jayant Dagar, Chetan and Yashwardhan Singh will play quarterfinal bouts.

Renu, Prachi, Ravina also progressed into the youth women semifinals following comfortable wins in their respective last-eight matches. Deepak moved into the semifinals after an easy 5-0 win over Khaled Alkurdy of UAE, in the youth men category. 

The competition has been witnessing a strong competition in the presence of 352 boxers from 21 countries including India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The final will be held on March 13 and 14.
