News Synopsis

Kia India’s first made-in-India car, the Seltos, has achieved a major sales milestone by crossing 6 lakh units in the domestic market. Since its launch in August 2019, the mid-size SUV has remained a strong performer, playing a key role in establishing Kia as a major brand in India.

Kia Seltos Achieves 6 Lakh Sales Milestone in India

Kia India’s first locally manufactured car, the Seltos, has crossed the landmark 6 lakh unit sales figure in the domestic market. From its launch in August 2019 to the end of January 2026, the mid-size SUV recorded total wholesale sales of 6,02,390 units in India.

In addition, nearly 1.6 lakh units have been exported to overseas markets. Combined domestic sales and exports mean that more than 7.5 lakh customers worldwide have purchased Kia’s first made-in-India model so far.

Seltos Gave Kia Instant Recognition in India

Launched with 16 variants and offering more features, space, comfort, and premium appeal, the Kia Seltos created a strong impact in the mid-size SUV segment right from the start. The model helped transform Kia from a relatively unknown Korean brand into a household name across India.

Within its first month of sales, the Seltos entered the list of India’s top five utility vehicles. Interestingly, it sold 127 units more than the Korea-made Seltos during that period, highlighting strong acceptance of the India-produced model.

New Kia Seltos Price in India

On January 2, 2026, Kia India launched the second-generation Seltos, built on the new global K3 platform. The updated SUV is priced from ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Seltos is longer, wider, and offers improved cabin space compared to the previous generation. Kia expects the latest model, packed with advanced technology and safety features, to repeat the success of the first generation and once again disrupt the mid-size SUV segment.

New Seltos Boosts Kia India’s Sales Momentum

The impact of the new Seltos is clearly visible in Kia India’s sales performance. The mid-size SUV crossed 10,000 units in monthly sales (10,639 units) after a gap of 25 months.

Previously, the Seltos had achieved monthly sales of 11,684 units in November 2023.

However, the second-generation Seltos faces stiff competition from several strong rivals, including:

  • Hyundai Creta
