JSW Energy starts Operations at its 225 MW Solar Plant located in Karnataka

News Synopsis

On Thursday, JSW energy announced that operation at its 225 MW solar power plant located in the state of Karnataka has been started by its subsidiary. This project is a part of the earlier declared 958 MW solar and wind projects. JSW Energy, under the group captive scheme, has also inked a power purchase agreement with JSW Steel. According to the company statement, operations at the 225 MW solar plant at Vijayanagar have been started by JSW Renewable Energy Vijayanagar Ltd. It further informed that despite several obstacles such as lockdown due to covid-19, exorbitant commodity prices, and global supply chain disruptions, it has managed to start operations of this solar power project in less than 12 months. It further informed that it is currently, building 2.25 GW of greenfield renewable energy capacity in order to reach 10 GW capacity by FY25. By the year 2030, it aims to take its green energy capacity to 20GW. Joint Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of JSW energy, Prashant Jain told that it is likely to begin operations of the under-construction pipeline of 2 GW wind projects in the next few months
