News Synopsis

On Friday, prices of Jet Fuel were increased by 2% to an all-time high due to a surge in global crude oil prices. This is the seventh hike in jet fuel prices this year. According to a notification released by the state-owned fuel retailers, the prices of Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) were increased by 2% or ₹2,258.54 per kilolitre to ₹1,12,924.83 per kg in the national capital. Surprisingly, there was no hike in the price of petrol and diesel on Friday. The prices of petrol and diesel have increased nine times in the last eleven days. The price of aviation fuel is revised on the 1st and 16th of every month according to the average international price of benchmark fuel in the preceding fortnight. This hike in Jet fuel price has been implemented because of the steepest ever hike of 18.3 percent (₹17,135.63 per kl) effected on March 16, in ATF prices. The prices of ATF have been continuously increasing every foil pricesortnight since the start of 2022.
