News Synopsis

Headquartered in Coventry and with factories in Castle Bromwich and Solihull, the carmaker sold 6,900 vehicles to Russia last year. Sanctions by the UK, EU and USA are believed to make it difficult for JLR to sell cars on the market.

Recently, global companies, including automakers and energy giants, have cut off their business relationships with Russia. A JLR spokesman said in a statement that his priority was "the well-being of our entire workforce and their families, and the people of our extended network."

The statement said that the current global context also presents us with trading challenges, so the company is pausing the delivery of vehicles into the Russian market and is monitoring the situation on behalf of its global consumer base.

The UK's largest automaker, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors, has a European manufacturing facility in Slovakia. Volvo of Sweden also said it would suspend delivery of cars to Russia until further notice.
