IOC Made Changes in Events to Achieve Gender Equality

News Synopsis
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has increased the number of women's boxing events at the 2024 Paris Olympics from five to six with the aim of achieving gender equality.
According to an update shared by the Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra, the preceding Tokyo Games has eight events for men and five for women, in Paris there will be seven events for the male pugilists and six for the female.
This change is in line with the increasing weight class of women, as there were only three at the Rio Olympics and two at the Tokyo Olympics.
In shooting, the trap mixed team event has been replaced by the skeet mixed team event. As for weightlifting, as reported by PTI, the number of events decreased from 14 in Tokyo to 10 (5 for men and 5 for women).
The competition schedule for the Paris Olympic Games was released after it was approved by the IOC executive board. A total of 32 sports are set to be contested across 19 days of action, with 329 events due to take place across 762 sessions.
