News Synopsis

Tonga after being disconnected from the rest of the world for five weeks is now connected to it after the volcano eruption that occurred on January 15th, followed by a Tsunami that disrupted the normal lives of this tiny Pacific nation. Things are gradually recovering after the volcanic eruption and tsunami wreak havoc upon the country. The 840 km long submarine cable that connects this nation to the world has been repaired. The limited connection it had with the world was because of the Makeshift satellite services. On Tuesday the two major telecom service providers of Tonga - Digicel, and TCC announced that telecom communications have been fully re-established in the country. Tongan Prime Minister Hu'akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni after the restoration of telecom services told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, "I'm pretty happy that we are back online.”
