News Synopsis

The CEO of Intel, Patrick Gelsinger has talked about his plans to develop a forthcoming $20 billion mega factory in New Albany, Ohio during an interview. The factory was announced at the news conference with President Joe Biden earlier this week which will aim at completing the supply chain for semiconductors in the USA.

The plant is expected to be operational by 2025 and will have two semiconductor fabrication plants where the company will research, develop and manufacture computer chips. The whole tech industry is struck with the chip and semiconductor shortage and led major tech giants to cut their production ever since the pandemic started.

The plant could expand up to 2,000 acres and will be the largest private sector investment in Ohio history. Patrick Gelsinger has also met with many leaders in Washington, DC to discuss semiconductor manufacturing in the USA.
