News Synopsis

Draupadi Murmu, India's 15th president, has created history by becoming the first tribal woman to hold the nation's top office.

Despite being born in a poor family, Murmu (64) always kept her hopes high and never let any hardship tarnish her strength. Her journey from Rairangpur, a small town in Odisha, to the Prime House of India, the "Rashtrapati Bhawan," was not so simple.

Her journey is a motivation to all, who strive to realise their aspirations, without having any stronghold in the system. She is a prime example of the strength of the everyday woman, who can overcome all obstacles to succeed in the world of men.

Murmu's life had always been full of ups and downs, tragedies, and losses. The new President suffered numerous catastrophes throughout her life, including the passing of her husband and two small boys. She lost both her sons, one to a fatal road mishap, and husband at an early age. She has a daughter who works at a bank in Odhisa.

Murmu reportedly experienced depression and anxiety at one point, but she made the decision to overcome those conditions. Later, she joined the Brahmkumari community and devoted herself to public service.

The election of Draupadi Murmu as President is a moment of proud for all. Murmu, who presently resides in a modest residence in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, will now reside on the vast grounds of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The BJP's nomination of Draupadi Murmu was a well-thought-out genius move. It should be noted that nine states will hold assembly elections the following year, or in 2023. Tribal people make up 86.15 percent of the population in Meghalaya, 86.5 in Nagaland, 31.8 in Tripura, 7.6 in Karnataka, 30.6 in Chhattisgarh, 21.1 in Madhya Pradesh, 94.4 in Mizoram, 13.5 in Rajasthan, and 9.3 in Telangana.
