News Synopsis

India’s efforts to explore new opportunities in countries or markets have led to a rise in rice export this year. The exports rose by 38 percent in terms of value and 44 percent in terms of rupees in the financial year 2020-21. The exports rose by over 33 percent in the first seven months of the current financial year and seeing this it is believed that the rice exports will surpass the records of the previous financial year.

Dr. M Angamuthu, Chairman at Agricultural and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority has said that the countries are stockpiling in anticipation of logistical disruption due to the pandemic. The government has set up the Rice Export Promotion Forum (REPF) under the aegis of the APEDA.
