News Synopsis

At the 2021 COP26, Climate Change Conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a net-zero emissions target for India by 2070. Also, India is targeting to increase its low-carbon electricity capacity to 500 gigawatts (GW) by 2030 and to meet 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable energy by 2030. According to a report by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India's GDP will grow by USD $406 billion by 2050. This will lead Asia's third-largest economy to create over 43 million jobs towards the net-zero emission target.
