News Synopsis

On Monday, the Union Health Ministry of India informed that for the first time ever in 715 days, India reported less than 1000 cases of covid-19 cases. With this, the total number of infections recorded till now increased to  4,30,29,044, while the active infection cases fell below 13,000. According to the data released, this is the lowest number of active cases in 714 days. 13 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to  5,21,358. Out of 13 fatalities, 8 included from Kerala. The ministry further informed that the active case count comprises 0.03 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 percent. About  416 cases were reduced in the number of active infections in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate remained at 0.29 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.22 percent. Additionally, the ministry on its website further informed that "Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)."
