News Synopsis

India will not make any agreement with the MSP at the WTO meeting, even after the objection of the developed countries. In this regard, according to sources from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India will not compromise on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) given to farmers at the Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The developed countries around the world have been objecting to the MSP given to farmers in India for years. WTO Ministerial Conference is going to be held in Geneva on 12-15 June in which Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will represent India.

The issue of the Russia-Ukraine war will also arise in the WTO meeting and India will keep its balanced approach in this matter. The issues of food security will also be raised in the meeting.

According to sources, India is ready to export food grains under the World Food Program (WFP), but India wants that for the food security of the needy countries, and there is a public stock between the two countries at the government level.
