News Synopsis

The US sanctions have hit Huawei with the warnings of facing serious challenges in 2022. The challenges can come as a result of the “politicisation of technology” and “deglobalisation”.

The expected revenue of the Chinese conglomerate has fallen down to 634 billion yuan in 2021 from 891.4 billion yuan in 2020. The rotating chairman of Huawei, Guo Ping has still mentioned in his letter to the employees that the growth of the company is stable and that the enterprise unit has seen growth.

US President Joe Biden signed a new law in November 2021 to ban the Chinese tech companies from getting approval for network equipment licences in the country. The US Federal Commission (FCC) designated both Huawei and ZTE a national threat to the communication networks. This made it even harder for US firms to invest in them.

Chairman Guo Ping has also mentioned that the company is looking forward to streamlining its business line its business decision-making processes by giving more autonomy to the local offices. He also mentioned that the company is planning to increase its investment in HarmonyOS and EulerOS.
