HPCL signs agreement with BPCL for Hydrogen Synergy

News Synopsis

Thursday had seen the declaration by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) of a joint deal to purchase and sell hydrogen more efficiently at their refineries in Mumbai. For the goal of creating low-emission fuel that meets Euro-VI or Bharat Stage VI requirements and is important for reliable and secure refinery operations, Hydrogen is a required utility.

According to a statement from the Business, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between HPCL Mumbai refinery and BPCL Mumbai refinery as part of synergy through purchase and sale of hydrogen."

The Two Oil Marketing Organizations' Unique Strategic Partnership is part of a larger effort to minimize wasteful hydrogen flaring and minimize environmental damage through "mutual help during emergencies," according to the statement. For continued refinery operations and continuous product supply, this project "envisages cooperation and collaboration as part of Synergy in the areas of hydrogen exchange between both refineries."

The executive directors of the HPCL and BPCL facilities in Mumbai, Vijay S. Agashe, and Subramoni Iyer, respectively, executed the Memorandum of Agreement.
