News Synopsis

The first time is always special. Himesh Patel, a Cambridgeshire-born Indian-origin actor who made the Emmy Awards shortlist for the first time, all smiled before heading to the ceremony on Tuesday.

Patel wore a patterned suit jacket with a black shirt and black pants to the Emmys. Patel is nominated for Best Actor, Limited Series, or TV Movie for his work in HBO's Station Eleven. In the show, he portrays Jeevan Chaudhary. Himesh was born on October 13, 1990, and is best known for his role as Tamwar Masood in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 2007 to 2016.

Himesh's parents are both Gujarati, but they were born in Africa. He also appeared in the 2019 musical romantic comedy film Yesterday, the 2020 science fiction action film Tenet, and 'Don't Look Up' with Leonardo DiCaprio. His mother was born in Zambia, while his father was born in Kenya.

The 74th Emmy Awards, honouring the best in television, were presented Monday in Los Angeles. Some of the night's most important awards went to "The White Lotus," "Ted Lasso," and "Succession." (WB Discovery owns HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and CNN.)

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences bestows the Emmy Awards. Only members of the academy are eligible to vote for the awards, and members can only vote within their own discipline—actors vote for other actors, writers vote for other writers, and so on. Dramatic series, comedy series, special drama, limited series, and variety, music, or comedy are among the categories for which awards are given.
