News Synopsis

Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the two thriving IT capitals of the country, may benefit from improved train connectivity as Indian Railways is allegedly exploring constructing a semi-high-speed track between the two cities.

According to a report by India InfraHub, the railway track can support trains traveling at a speed of 200 km/h, and the distance between two cities can soon be covered in two and a half hours, or 150 minutes. The PM Gati Shakti program calls for the construction of the project, which is expected to cost approximately 30,000 crore. The track will be constructed over a 503km route from Hyderabad's Secunderabad Station to Bengaluru's Yelahanka Station. A detour between the two major cities has not been included in the proposed track's route.

According to the study, a fence wall 1.5 meters high will also be constructed on either side of this semi-high speed railway track to assist the train in moving at the anticipated pace without encountering any obstacles. With the current infrastructure, it takes travelers between Hyderabad and Bengaluru 10 to 11 hours to travel by train.

The distance between the two cities will be cut to two hours once the Bengaluru-Chennai highway is open for commuter traffic, according to earlier remarks made regarding the project by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in the Rajya Sabha.
