Google will Stop Call Recording Apps on Android phones

Tech Giant Google Incorporation is working on a new update to the developer policies to the Play Store. This new update is speculated to prevent applications from offering call recording functionality to Android users. According to a post by a Reddit user, a new Play Store policy will stop third-party apps from recording calls on Android smartphones. This update is estimated to come into effect from May 11, The tech giant has tried to stop call recording on Android devices in the past as well.

With the Android 10 update, Google completely disabled the call recording feature on its devices. Google informed that it took this decision keeping in mind the privacy and security of its users. Other than this, it was also implemented as call recording laws are different from country to country. After this, many third-party apps like TrueCaller and ACR Phone begin using the Accessibility API in order to record calls. In response to this, Google announced that Accessibility API can no longer be used to record calls on Android devices. Google stated, “The Accessibility API is not designed and cannot be requested for remote call audio recording. The use of the Accessibility API must be documented in the Google Play listing.”
