Google teams up with MeitY to help Indian Startups build Global Apps

Google and the MeitY Startup Hub, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology have announced a cohort of 100 early to mid-stage Indian startups. These startups will be provided with measures to develop high-quality global apps and games under Appscale Academy.

The startups will be trained through a customised curriculum designed to help them drive high-quality applications for a global market under the six-month program.

Appscale Academy's cohort start-ups solve some of India's key needs through creative, self-developed solutions. After an intensive selection process, 100 startups were selected from over 400 applications. 

Represents the diversity of talents emerging in the Indian startup and developer ecosystem, 35% of the cohort gathered from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities such as Surat, Vadodara, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut and Morbi. Almost 58% of the cohort has women in leadership roles.

Bhuvnesh Kumar, Joint Secretary of MeitY has said that startups and developers are key drivers of the digital transformation journey of India. Jeet Vijay, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub has also said that the mission of the company with Appscale Academy is to empower early to mid-stage startups with the right knowledge and mentorship to drive app and game innovations for the world.
