Google's Russian Subsidiary Files for Bankruptcy

News Synopsis

According to a notice submitted on Russia's official registration Fedresurs on Wednesday, the Russian unit of Alphabet Inc's Google has filed for insolvency. "It foresees its own bankruptcy and inability to meet its monetary obligations, demands to pay severance payments and (or) the remuneration of staff working or previously working under an employment contract, and (or) the obligation to make mandatory payments within the prescribed period" since March 22, 2022, according to the note.

According to the note, the subsidiary was "submitting a notice of intention to declare itself insolvent (bankrupt)." The document designated David Sneddon as the subsidiary's general director.

A few days ago, the leading tech company, hosted its 2022 I/O summit, where it presented a glimpse of a range of upcoming features and tools. These features included updates for Google Search, new Maps presentation tools, enhanced ad formats, shopping advances, secure payment options, and more.
