Google’s Owner Paid $296,000 to a Typical Worker

News Synopsis

With the economy booming and the labor market tightening, median wages rose last year for most S&P 500 companies, according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal.

Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. and  Meta Platforms Inc. has the highest-paid average worker, almost close to $300,000. They are among nearly 150 companies that say their average employee makes more than $100,000.

Auto parts supplier Aptiv has the lowest-paid average worker in the S&P 500, a full-time factory worker in Mexico made less than $7,500 last year. Aptiv is one of 44 companies that reported paying less than $30,000. A journal analysis of the data collected by MyLogIQ LLC found that the median wages of 278 of the 453 companies have increased over the past year.
