News Synopsis

According to recent reports, California-based tech-giant Google has acquired Raxium for an undisclosed sum. Raxium is a five-year-old startup that majorly focuses on developing microLED displays for AR and VR applications. The amount at which Google has acquired Raxium has not been revealed but according to a report from The Information, the tech company has put a value of $1 billion on the startup. Micro led is somewhat similar to Oled. The difference between the two is that in micro led it pixel emits its own light rather than using a backlight as we see in Oled. Prior to this, Google has already acquired North, which is a pioneer in human-computer interfaces and smart glasses and has created a strong technology foundation. Google brought the second edition of Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 after its first generation fail to create the impact google was hoping for. Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 features an improved camera, USB-C type port, and safety frames. The First edition of google glass was unveiled in the year 2014 in its Fanfare. They retailed for $1500.
