At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro received the Best Picture - Animated award for his movie "Pinocchio."

With this, Netflix became the first streaming service to win the Best Animated Feature Golden Globe Award. He thanked everyone for the victory and quipped that he was glad to be back in the room with them.

Some of us are drunk, he said in a joke, adding that "animation is cinema." He stated that "it's a medium" and not just movies for kids.

The Carlo Collodi classic story was adapted by Del Toro and Mark Gustafson.

He collaborated on the writing with Patrick McHale. The film is also up for a Critics' Choice Award, which will be presented on January 15.

In India, Lionsgate Play is broadcasting the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.

The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California has announced the nominations for the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday.

Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva of the brand-new NBC comedy series Lopez vs. Lopez and Helen Hoehne, the head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, made the announcements about the nominees (HFPA). For each of the 27 award categories, they gave five candidates.

96 members and, for the first time, 103 international voters cast ballots for the nominees. The new electorate was gathered from international business associations, renowned foreign film festivals, and journalists.

This diversified voting group is made up of citizens from 62 different nations. The combined membership of the Golden Globe Awards voting body now includes 52% women and 51.8% people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, including 19.6% Latinx, 12.1% Asian, 10.1% Black, and 10.1% Middle Eastern.
