News Synopsis

Women in Afghanistan have been given permission to study in universities which include higher education. But there is a change made for the classrooms. It will be gender-segregated. Co-education will not be encouraged and that will be taken care of. The attire should be Islamic dress which has been marked as mandatory.
During the era since when Tabilan came into action, they never allowed girls and women to be educated. They were also kept away from public life. However, the Taliban has said that they have changed their attitudes when it comes to women yet used violence against female protestors who were asking for equal rights in society. Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the minister, presented the news after having a conference for many days with the all-male Afghanistan’s new government. Haqqani mentioned that they do not want to turn back to time but want to create from the present. Hijabs are compulsory but the specification on headscarves and face-covering has not yet been clarified. The subjects that are being taught in different educational departments will be reviewed so that certain topics do not get elaborated as a form of education.
