News Synopsis

The meeting of the G-20, the influential grouping of the world's major economies, can be held in Ladakh next year. The Central Government has also proposed to organize these meetings in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Earlier, India had said that the G-20 summit could be held in Jammu and Kashmir. On this, China has objected to holding the G-20 meeting. The special thing is that in August 2019, after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, there will be an international summit for the first time.

Let us tell you that India will take over the chairmanship of G-20 on 1 December this year. It has proposed the name of Jammu and Kashmir for the G20 leaders' summit in 2023. There will be several meetings of the G20 before the summit as well. According to information received from sources, India has also proposed the name of Ladakh as a Venue.

The G20 brings together the world's major economies on a single platform. Its member countries are America, Britain, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, European Union, South Korea, and Turkey.
