News Synopsis

To further promote the participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in the regular workforce, e-commerce company Flipkart has signed a contract with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) for Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). Skills Council for Persons with Disabilities (SCPwD) in New Delhi.

As part of a tripartite agreement or MoU, Flipkart will work with DEPwD and SCPwD to jointly develop means and mechanisms that will allow PwDs to participate in the mainstream economic and e-commerce markets over the next two years. 

Flipkart provides easy access to learning opportunities for people with disabilities to acquire relevant skills through National Skill Qualifications Committee and skills to operate supply chain through Flipkart's Supply Chain Operations Academy.

Walmart-owned Flipkart today employs more than two lakhs in a structured diversity program that includes the employment of women and people with disabilities (PwD). With several initiatives to facilitate their inclusion and development, Flipkart has been recognized as a top fair work employer for several years by the Fairwork Foundation.
