News Synopsis

Technology was an important part of this year’s budget announced by the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitaraman. The budget included a digital university, the first digital currency of India, an indigenous technology for railways and so much more. Almost all the sectors have new inclusion of technology in the budget.

The budget finally introduced India’s digital currency, the digital rupee which is planned to be released by March 2023. The Finance Minister also announced the use of Kisan Drones to boost the farming and agricultural sector in the country.

It also included the e-passports, Kavach for railways, an indigenous world-class technology for railways; a digital university. The Kavach technology will be brought in 2022-23 and the digital passports will have a unique digital structure that can be verified easily by using a certificate.

The budget also confirmed the 5G services in India. The 5G auction will be held in India in 2022 and the services will roll out in 2022-23. A DESH-Stack e-portal will also be launched to help skill, reskill and upskill the citizens with online training programmes.
