Tech billionaire Elon Musk was invited to testify in the British Parliament on a $44 billion takeover offer on the microblogging site. In a letter, Julian Knight, the Chair of the UK House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Select Committee called on Tesla's CEO to come out in front of lawmakers to discuss the proposal.

He said that appearing before the community will give Mr. Musk an ideal opportunity to set out his proposals for Twitter in more detail and we look forward to welcoming him. Knight said his committee was paying attention to Musk's offer to buy the microblogging site and was interested in the development he was proposing.

Julian Knight said in the letter, “In particular, your intention to roll out verification for all users echoes our calls on the UK Government as part of proposed legislation, which we hope will restore the public trust in digital platforms.:

Recently, Twitter announced that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity fully owned by Elon Musk for $54.20 per share in cash in a transaction valued at nearly $44 billion.
