News Synopsis

Tesla CEO Elon Musk claims that robots will soon be more valuable than the automotive business and FSD (Fully self Driving) programs. When Tesla's Gigafactory opened in Texas earlier this month, Musk announced that a new wave of products like the Optimus Robot would be launched in 2023.

Elon Musk said, "The importance of Optimus will become apparent in coming years. Those who are insightful or listen carefully will understand that Optimus ultimately will be worth more than the car business, worth more than FSD."

Musk told analysts late Wednesday at the company's first-quarter 2022 conference call that people were unaware of the scale of the Optimus robot program. Tesla is working on a humanoid robot, with a prototype arriving by the end of 2023. The Tesla robot weighs 125 pounds and walks at 5 miles per hour.

The 5.8-inch bot is used to handle some of the hardware and software that powers Tesla's factory automated machines and autopilot driver assistance software. The robot's face will have a screen that will display important information. Musk also said the company is working on a special robotaxi. Robotaxi may reach mass production in 2024.
