News Synopsis

In recent years, earthquakes have become a common phenomenon around the world. Every month we hear news of earthquakes hitting some parts of the world. This time it's Baluchistan, a province in Pakistan. The earthquake hit the province on the morning of Thursday and send a shock to all the inhabitants of the area (quite literally). Early estimates suggest that the total number of lives lost is 20 and the number of injured people is 300. The number can go higher once the dust has settled down. The US suggests that the Earthquake was of 5.9 magnitudes. It's higher that's why still the shock felt by the locals was great. Some parts of the province are still dealing with the aftershock.

The frequency of earthquakes has gone up by a huge number and many climate researchers cite that many of these earthquakes are human-induced earthquakes. Human-induced earthquakes are caused by man-made activities such as nuclear explosions, mining, and groundwater extraction. Such activities remove the natural material from the earth causing an imbalance. Apart from these, another major reason is the cooling of the earth which causes the contraction of the earth's crust. These things are the reasons behind the huge spur in the number of earthquakes. The government should immediately provide relief to the injured and the families of the deceased.
