Former Tata Sons chairman and big businessman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident on Sunday in Palghar, Maharashtra. He attained the age of 54 years. Giving information, a police officer said that the accident took place when Mistry's car collided with a divider in Palghar district, adjoining Mumbai. At that time Mistry was returning from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car. Palghar district superintendent of police Balasaheb Patil said in his statement, "The accident happened around 3.15 pm.  Mistry was on his way from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The accident took place at Charoti Naka on the bridge over Surya river."

Mistry and another person died on the spot, while two others, including the driver, were injured in the accident, he said. Mistry's car rammed into the retention wall after hitting the divider. One of the most disappointing things in this whole incident is that Mercedes cars are expensive only because they have great luxury and safety features. Mercedes cars are considered one of the safest cars. Now when people die in such an accident in cars that are considered to be equipped with so many safety features, then what will be the option left with the people, and what will happen to the safety features? While one thing related to this incident has come to the fore, PTI has quoted a police officer as saying that according to a preliminary investigation into the road accident in which Cyrus Mistry died, former Tata Sons chairman Mistry and one of his co-workers - The passengers was not wearing a seat belt, the vehicle was at a very high speed and the driver's "error of judgment" caused the accident.
