Commercial Operation of 22 MW Floating Solar Capacity started by NTPC in Kerala

Climate change and Global Warming are slowly increasing all around the globe. The horrifying consequences of these two phenomena can also be seen. It is high time that we come up with an effective plan to tackle this problem. One of the effective ways to battle Climate Change and Global warming is the use of Renewable Energy. Strengthening its fight against climate change, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), on Friday, announced that the commercial operation of 22 megawatts of floating solar capacity in Kayamkulam, Kerala has started on March 31st. NTPC in its statement said that this capacity is part of its 92 MW Kayamkulam floating solar PV project. It further stated: "Consequent upon successful commissioning, the first part capacity of 22 MW out of 92 MW Kayamkulam Floating Solar PV Project at Kayamkulam, Kerala, is declared on commercial operation with effect from 13:00 hours of 31.03.2022.” With the commencement of this 22 megawatts of floating solar capacity, the standalone installed and commercial capacity of National Thermal Power Corporation has reached  54,516.68 MW. Other than this, NTPC’s installed and commercial capacity has increased to 68,631.68 and 67,971.68 MW, respectively.
