News Synopsis

Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran made a major restructuring on Friday with the top management of the recently acquired airline, with Nipun Aggarwal as Chief Commercial Officer and Suresh Dutt Tripathi as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Agarwal, Senior Vice President of Tata Son's, will replace Air India's veteran Minakshi Malik, and Tripathi, Tata Steel's Vice President of Human Resources from 2012 to 2021, will replace Amrita Sharan of Air India.

Malik and Sharan have been appointed as advisors to Air India's CEO, according to a company statement on Friday. It said Malik and Sharan would now be advisors to Chandra Sekaran, as Tata Group has not yet appointed Air India's CEO.

RS Sandhu will continue as the COO and Vinod Hejmadi will continue to hold the charge of CFO at the airline. As a result of the competitive bidding, the government sold Air India to Tata Group Holding Company's subsidiary Talace Private Limited for Rs 18,000 crore on October 8, last year.
