CCI called spineless for dropping investigation against Amazon

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has severely criticized the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for dropping the investigation against Amazon. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is a union of 40,000 trade associations and has over seven crore members along the length and breadth of the nation. The Trader association has called CCI “spineless” and “toothless”. The United States based E-commerce giant was accused of copying products of its rival manufacturers and using its platform data to boost the sales of its own brand- Solimo. This is a clear violation of Press Note 2 of the Indian foreign direct investment (FDI) guidelines. Press Note 2 of the Indian foreign direct investment (FDI) guidelines prohibits amazon to sell any private labels. In a joint statement CAIT National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, said: "We are at a loss to understand why the government and agencies are keeping a complete silence on the daylight violations of policy, rules, and laws by Amazon and others."
